i want to build a mid-range PC for virtualization i.e. installing server 2008 r2; Server 2003; Win7; FreeBSD on VMware workstation. So, in my range i could find i5-3550 processor as i can't afford i7-3770. For i5-3550 which motherboard (in India) can give the best performance for it. Can Gigabyte GA-Z77-DH3 do the work and what is the difference in GA-Z77x-Dh3/GA-Z77Mx-DH3/GA-Z77Mx-UDH3 .One more thing my experience for Gigabyte has been excellent years ago i built a Dual-core with 945MB which stops working last week.Any other MB brand as long as it performs than Gigabyte. Pls also spare sometime to educate me on which RAM to use with motherboard.

The boards are pretty much same in performance. There are some difference between layout, design, and cost, feature, and its hard to tell the differences.

"Z" boards are for overclocking, "H" boards are for normal use. So if you are not into OC go with a H board, it will save some money.

Todays standard for RAM is DRAM DDR3 1066Mhz, but you can choose for higher bandwidth also, depending on your MB. The CPU of yours will support
DDR3-1333/1600 Max Memory Size 32GB Non ECC.

You can consider this MB though with a Z marking, but this is the best MB for your CPU:

And there is another important component is PSU, buy a decent and rated one around 650W of XFX, Corsair, Seasonic, Antec. Good luck.
