I plan on getting a new Amd R9 280X but my power supply only has a 6 pin pcie cable. I have a 750w psu so I should be able to power it if I can connect it up ok. Any idea if this will work? My current psu: http://www.play.com/stores/RedRockTrading/listing/73030...

Thanks in advance.

You need to provide the information on the label. I can pretty much guarantee you that's not a real 750W PSU. Technically an adapter can work but that supply looks very suspect.

ok i just checked and i actually have a 6+2 pin pcie so i would need to have a molex to 6 pin if that is safer.
This is whats on my PSU: http://s21.postimg.org/czk8lkrxj/IMG_0570.jpg

I'm not too sure about your PSU either, haven't heard of the manufacturer before...but in terms of power, a 750w PSU will do the trick. You will need an adapter/splitter (as unksol suggested), to connect both the 6-pin and the 8-pin outlets of the 280x to the PSU.
