Yes, there will be a cpu bottleneck with that setup, not overly bad with dual threaded games, but anything cpu intensive or optimized for more than 2 threads will suffer...the core 2's are starting to show their age and core 2 quads are kind of the minimum for a capable gaming CPU.

More games are requiring a core 2 quad as their minimum specs as well (AC4, Watchdogs etc.)

You should just look for cards like the GTX 650, 7750 or 7770, they should go nicely with your CPU and be a nice upgrade from the 9500 GT

Yes. I wouldn't go over a GTX650 or 7750

Nah it won't max out newer games at that resolution, even if you put a titan with that system it wouldn't max games due to that bottleneck :(

A 7770 should run well with that setup without too much a bottleneck though, and should play games at med-high (guess) at 1600x900

The bummer part is that those second hand quad cores still sell for a fair amount online (probably because they are the best CPUs for the LGA775 socket)

Honestly a 650 or a 7750 shouldn't be a big bottleneck for that CPU

Especially if you OC to 3.5GHz a 7750/650 would be good

i am running with nearly same spec
e7400 2.8ghz , 6 gb ram at 800mhz inteldg35ec zotac gtx 600 synergy edition and getting a LOL performance (huge bottleneck)

at bf4 ultra everything(max AA) getting a of 28~35 (avg 29) fps and at medium with no aa getting 31- 35 fps
at farcry 3 at ultra getting just 20 ~ 22 fps and at medium with no AA geting a avg of 25 which is still unplayable(not smooth)

but i tried crysis warhead which is optimized for dual cores gets 50+ at ultra (with max AA)

so i suggest u to upgrade ur MOBO and processor , getting a gpu is just waste of money with our spec
but i preordered watchdogs though ,cant control myself :p
