First SSD: drivers, IRST, BIOS?

Hello everyone! I'm currently waiting for my first SSD to be delivered (840pro 256gb), so I was trying to get everything ready for its installation and a fresh os install (Win7pro).

My mainboard is a P8Z68-V pro with its stock bios version 0501, and I'm currently using intel RST drivers 10.5.0.1027, which is the version that was available when I built my system, about two years ago.

Now I have no idea what drivers I'm supposed to install, and I'm referring to the versions as well. For example, in my motherboard's support page I see a Marvell SATA 6G AHCI Driver (dated 2010) and various versions of RST drivers, some of which would apparently require a bios update. Specifically, bios version 3603 introduced support for RST 11.5

Would the latest bios (3603) also support the latest RST drivers (12.8)? Is it worth taking the risks associated with bios updating or should I just get whatever RST my current bios supports? Do I actually need to install ahci drivers myself or does windows 7 take care of it on its own?

I hope I've explained myself clearly enough, many thanks to whoever answers :)
