Hello.
I used an Intel Core2Duo E7500 processor which worked fine on GA-73PVM-S2H motherboard.
I upgraded the processor to Core2Quad Q8200 (listed in CPU support list) and now my computer won't boot up. I can't even see the post screen and no "Beep" from motherboard. When I put back the E7500 CPU, it works great !
I tried this processor (Q8200) with Intel DG41RQ motherboard and it works with no problem. What can be the problem? Do I need to do something extra to make it work?
Thanks for your support.
Michael.

Thank you very much for quick reply !
Before I installed the new CPU, I had F8 bios.
After I saw that it won't start up, I put back E7500 and upgraded to F9E just in case. Still not working :-(

This complicates things.
For testing please remove all but one stick of RAM.
Load fail-safe defaults in BIOS to remove any OC settings.

You are changing from 266FSB processor to 333MHz one. I guess this is where to look for the problem. So my suggested solution is to manually configure the board for slow settings to prevent it from auto-configuring everything. Then you could see if it can boot.

Using your E7500 adjust CPU & RAM settings manually before switching to Q8200. Set it as safe as possible - meaning high memory CAS, lowest FSB : DRAM multiplier to run memory module at lowest possible speed; CPU multiplier to 7 (only one possible for Q8200), FSB manually to 266MHz. Voltages on auto.

This settings should work for E7500, so you can save BIOS settings and reboot, shutdown and replace the CPU.

Other thought is the PSU. What is your current PSU and what was the one you used to test the CPU with Intel DG41RQ motherboard?

Sure.
FSB memory clock mode: linked.
FSB-Memory ratio: 3:2
CPU Host Freq: 266
CPU Clock ratio: 7
CPU 0.5 clock ratio: disabled
CPU Voltage Control: Auto

This should give:
Actual CPU clock 7x266 =1862MHz for CPU
Actual Memory clock (266/3)*2 = 176MHz (352MHz) for RAM

It was worth a try, I guess. Please restore the BIOS settings to defaults. Reset it via jumper or battery method, if you don't want to replace the CPU again.

Which graphics card do you use? Integrated or dedicated? If you have dedicated card, take it out and try it on integrated one.

I use the integrated one.

I have no idea what can be the problem !
If Q8200 is mentioned in CPU support list why it's not working ???
I just can't understand that....

Yup, it should work.
Reset the BIOS once again, unplug all unnecessary components (ODD, HDDs, sound/network cards if any) leave only one stick of RAM and try again.

I'm sorry, but I don't have any more ideas.

Did that already....

Well Bejusek thank you alot for your time and effort to help me solve that strange issue.
If you will have any new idea, please let me know.
If I will manage to make it work, I will write about it.
Thanks again.
