Hi, I am building a new systems with AMD FX6300 & GA 78 LMT USB 3 mobo, Ram 4gb Cosair DDR3.
I am done with the installation & am into the BIOS setup. However, the boot priority list does not show my hard disk or my optical drive.
I am using my old hard disk segate 250 gb ( with SATA port) & have connected it to the SATA port 2 on the mobo.
My optical drive is Samsung octo edge with IDE cable which is connected to the standalone IDE port on my Mobo.

Pls. note I had Windows XP installed on my HDD through my earlier PC & was running Intel Dual core processor with gigabyte Mobo.

Can anyone advise what I can do in BIOS settings. Also,i am planning to install Ubuntu on this machine.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Go to BIOS -> Standard CMOS features. Is any drive recognized there?
If not, go to Integrated Peripherals and make sure that SATA and IDE controllers are enabled.

Just to make sure - power cables are connected to HDD and ODD? :)

Very well, but in Standard CMOS it should read something like this:
IDE Channel 0 Master -> None, when no drive is recognized or
IDE Channel 0 Master -> Saegate 250 gb, if it would be recognized.

What about Controller settings in Integrated Peripherals? You haven't answered that either.

I Would check on the controller settings. One doubt If I am using a SATA port for my HDD still it would get detected on IDE port only?
