Upgrade from 7 Pro to 8.1 Pro transferring programs

Hi following my earlier thread I am intending to upgrade in stages to 8.1 Pro and I am presuming that in the uprgrade process all my current programs will be automatically transferred over too not just program data. Am I correct in this presumption or will I have to re-install all progs?

The upgrade will be done via a cloned image on a new SSD which means I will have my original Windows7 OS on the old SSD. If I am unhappy with 8.1 will I be able to simply revert back to the old OS?

Hi Vipervoid, I would not try to roll the windows 8.1 OS back but simply replace the new SSD with the old SSD which would still have my original windows7 OS on.

I am hoping that by making a clone and using that for the upgrade, if it all goes pear-shaped, I can simply ditch the new OS and revert back to windows7 using the old SSD. I presumed this shoulld work unless the microsoft licence was anulled in the upgrade process?
