How hard is it to spot water damage on a laptop motherboard, RAM chips and Wi Fi Card?. I ask this as I recently sent my laptop off to Acer warranty repair agents Infoteam, two weeks later get a phone call saying motherboard is at fault and they have requested a replacement then two weeks after that a invoice for just over £250 for new motherboard, LCD panel, Wi Fi card and RAM as they were " liquid polluted". I sent it off as it wasnt charging, it was temperamental for a while and you had to wiggle it to charge it, I assumed it was the DC charger port.

Recieved it back yesterday (as I didnt pay the 250 to have it repaired) and thought stuff it, I will have a look myself, lo and behold one of the wires were disconnected on the DC port little solder and back, its working again. Thats when I noticed the massive crack in the screen....

As soon as I recieved the invoice from them saying water damaged screen damaged etc I called them and disputed these issues, I asked spefically what the damage to the screen was, no information was avaliable so they said pictures would turn up in 2 working days. No pictures ever arrived.

I have today taken apart the laptop again to take pictures of the internals that they said were damaged but I dont really have any idea on what to look for. By the way, I am acutally writing this on the laptop they said needed 250 to repair it.....

This is the interesting one, are the cracks there where it has shattered, or has it had a impact there?, the center is behind the plastic frame and has never been removed by me.

And lastly, the reason WHY the laptop was sent off, notice my poor soldering on the DC jack....

Hi
cannot see any water damage,I assume you have never spilled anything on it and that the screen wasnt cracked when you sent it off.
You should go to your nearest Citizens Advice Bureau with the photographs and corespondance(I assume you are in UK as you mention £)they will advise you on consumer law and how to proceed, and the best thing is they are free.
