Hey guys,

With the amazing help of another forum member, we have put together a build that we think (more he thinks, because I'm useless!!) Will be enough for my needs. If you guys, who know what your talking about could take a quick look and let me know if you agree/disagree with anything. I would really appreciate it.

My needs are general multitasking - music, emails, browsing and multi tabling poker. No intense gaming.

The only other special need was to be able to run my 30" monitor at full resolution (2560x1600). It currently has a dvi-d connection at the monitor end and a hdmi at the computer end , so a hdmi connection capable of this would be great! (or a dvi-d port , I would then just buy a dvi-d cable) Also if possible, two ports capable of this high res, to allow for the potential of a further 30" monitor to be added in the future. My Budget being £400-500. Ideally bottom end as this cash is available right away.

Heres the build... ATM I can't decide upon a case, any suggestions for a cheapish one that would suit?? cheers guys.

Cheers for the reply...

1. what's your reasons for these changes?

2. Any suggestions on a suitable case?

3. With this build will I need any extra cooling fan?

1. CPU has more cores for multi-tasking purposes.
2. Since the CPU is of a different socket, the motherboard has to change.
3. HD 7770 is a very good low-end card, but can still play some graphically intensive games on low setting.
4. I already put in a case.
5. Try it out first and if cooling is insufficient, put in more fans. But no need to stock up on them.

Heres a wildcard option!!! I have just been offered this desktop off of a friend for £200, If this is capable of running my 30" monitor at max resolution.. I may buy this and save for a bigger budget 'build my own' early next year. What do you think??

The spec I know of is -

Intel core2 Quad core 2.4Ghz CPU
8GB DDR3 RAM
750GB hard drive
Nvidia GeForce 9500GT graphics card 1GB with HDMI

If you are tight on budget, that's an okay (not great or good) option. But I think the build that I put up is well worth the price for £266 more.

Yeah, I understand.. But with an OS and Labor on top. I'm looking at 400 more. I think I'm going to take him up.

Sae a tad more over the next 3-4 months and then havea budget of around £1000 for a build. Thanks so much for your help.

I'll no doubt be back in a couple of months time for help with my build!! Thanks.
