HELP ME OUT ! Laptop connects via hdmi and displays on tv but xbox doesnt ?

Hi guys , first off dont know if im posting in write place to be honest but someone must be able to help a guy out !

Im in a hotel and it has like 5 channels on the tv BORING so i brought my laptop and xbox , i used the controller code to get off the hotel tv and into the tv menu where i seleced switch on OSD and changed to HDMI .( also program install and switched to HDMI ) there is 4 hdmi slots on the tv ( philips )
i hooked up my laptop to the tv via HDMI and it worked so i used sky go etc and then decided to hook up my xbox via HDMI took the cable from the laptop and put in xbox and it just displays black screen with no audio either i tried all slots and nothing but the laptop displays on every hdmi ....how is this and how can i get it working ?

ALL HELP APPRETIATED !!

Sounds like your display settings on your Xbox 360 are too much for the capabilities of the television. Turn off the console, take out any disks, and turn it back on it. As it's turning back on, hold the Y button and the right trigger at the same time. The display settings will restart and your console will reboot on its own.
