I currently have a ssd that I have my OS and everything installed on. I am wondering how it works if i get another ssd. I would like to get another 120 or 250gb ssd to have more room for games.

I have never added a HDD to a computer to have two of them. Would the 2nd one work just fine to install games on from steam and orgin? Would there be any downfall to having 2 ssds in one machine? Let me know how this works. Do i just pop the 2nd ssd drive in and start installing stuff to it?

Thank you

That pretty much exactly what I do. OS/Adobe on one SSD and games on a separate one. Works flawlessly, and keeps OS SSD from getting full. I highly recommend that setup, if you enjoy quick loading times on games.

And yes, plug the SSD into a SATA III port (if available) and you'll be set to download to it.

It's as easy as that, i'd recommend shutting down and disconnecting power to put the second drive in, but when you start up the very most you should have to do is go into disk management and initialize the disk and partition it, then you can install away, there would be no drawback to this, it will actually be faster as you won't be accessing one drive for OS reads/writes while trying to read/write game information. Most of us go with a HDD for games just because you can't fit many 20GB games on a 120GB SSD...but it's totally up to you. If i could afford to to do it that way, i totally would.

I am going to get another 250gb ssd and just plug it in. Format it in disk management and then start downloading games to it. Thank you for your help

Is it slower to get two ssd drives both 120gb than just having one 250gb drive? I would add a 120gb drive to my case that already has one 120gb with the OS and WoW on it. If I just use the 2nd 120gb drive for games would it be slowing anything down at all?

Generally, larger SSDs are 'faster', but not that you'd actually notice outside of a lab.
But having a second one won't slow things down just by being a second one.

i can't decide on 250gb or 120gb for my additional ssd. i know i will be getting cod ghosts and bf4 and those are like 30gb installs each. so wondering if i will have enough room down the road with a 120gb. big decision

looking at the samsung evo in either the 120gb or the 250gb. I dont play a lot of pc games but filling it up would be a pain. I heard the new cod was a 50gb install. If that is true i almost have to get the 250gb. What are your thoughts?

If you're looking at 50GB for one game, then the 256 would be indicated.
And the EVO is an excellent drive.

i went with the 250gb samsung evo. I have the pro 120gb as my main ssd. It sucks that i had to spend another 80 dollars but will be worth it not worrying about having extra space always. Thanks for the help. So just plug it in when i get it and format it to nfts? then good to go?

Probably won't even have to format it. Plug it in and see what happens.
