No bootable device insert boot disk and press any key

I have an hp laptop and out of the blue I got the no bootable device--insert boot disk and press any key error. I tried the alt delete and other suggestions but no luck. I then ran the system diagnostics and the memory was good but no hard drive detected. I got a new hard drive and installed it. The new hard drive was recognized but when I inserted the recovery disk I still get the same error message. No bootable device insert boot disk and press any key. I am using the recovery disk from HP and the instructions say insert 1st disk and then restart with disk in, it starts making a few sounds for a few minutes like normal when you run a disk but then I get the error again! Please help if you can!!! I am NOT a tech person but I'm good at following instructions

I went to BIOS boot order and put internal CD/DVD drive first then saved it and still got the error message

Thanks I tried it in another PC then put it back in mine and it started loading! PC up and running thanks again!!
