Ok, not a PSU problem... what's going on?

Hi all! I just love this page and decided to stop being a voyeur about it!

So... I bought a gaming pc late 2012, mainly for gaming. I'm a noob with components, oc, etc. but recently I realized that maybe I have a PSU problem...

The thing is that when I'm on the web, youtube, watching movies, etc. everything is fine. Even when I'm playing something that requires low gpu usage like FTL, Bastion or so my pc stands up.

But whenever I play BF3, F1 2012... Crysis (1,2... ) the system just locks up. Sometimes is just ten minutes in, sometimes 1 hour. It just crashes to black screen ( sometimes with looping sound ) and other times it just crashes to color screen ( pink, yellow ) and when I wait it just says "signal lost" and I have to hard reset my computer. Sometimes it even gives me boot error 0xc000000e!

I've checked my ram, my cpu... my gpu is factory oc but runs fine. I tried replacing nvidia drivers and quite a few other things but the problem persists!

But today checking it out I realized the weakest part of my pc is the psu :(

Could it be?

Here's my rig:

CPU: i5 3570k ( with CM Hyper 612S )
GPU: Msi GTX670 OC edition
MOBO: Msi Z77A-G45
SSD: Crucial 128gb
HDD: Western Digital 2TB Caviar Green
RAM: 8GB G.Skill Ares

PSU: Tacens Radix VI 750

Thanks if anyone answers!

I can't find any good reviews on it, but by looking at its specs its a 550w PSU at best. A 540w 12v rail on a 750w PSU is just sad. I would bet that the 12v rail can't even hit 540w or it will with very bad power regulation. I would also be suspect of this PSU and replace as soon as I could with a better model.

Thanks for the reply! that was fast :)

I read a review that said the psu doesn't hit 85% of the power most of the time... but I had it already installed xD

I'll hit the forums to check out psus reviews! time to get this thing ready for bf4 ;)

Thanks for the reply, very much appreciated!

Most likely that is the problem, your CPU and GPU will pull up plenty of juice from the PSU and it just can't handle it.

Antec,Corsair, Seasonic or XFX is the way to go. There are other reasonable units out there, but going with the above manufacturers is your best bet.

Corsair TX, Antec HCG, Seasonic M12II, XFX Pro for the 'low end' of the god PSU:s.
650W units should be plenty for you, but if there is a sale on a larger wattage unit like 750 or 850 it won't hurt to have extra breathing room.

Thanks for the answer!

I was already checking some psus... might as well get a "real" 750w or 850w cause maybe early next year I SLI my 670 :)
I've just read a forum post in another site with a guy with exactly the same problem, same gpu same psu!

So long Tacens, and thanks for all the crashes!

Thank you so much!

Well, I installed a new corsair ax860 aaaaand...

the problem is still there :(

I checked and rechecked connections and everything's fine.
The event log shows dns clients events and wmi events errors... but nothing else that catches my eye!

Could my modem be the problem, cause I keep getting the same freezes!

Please not my gpu ''-_- !!! It runs at 73 celsius at full load while gaming.

Edit: rechecked event viewer and find windows error reporting LiveKernelEvent... Tomorrow I'll use Afterburner to speed up the gpu fans, but I don't think it's overheating!

Could use some help! Thanks!

Update: Verified! Event viewer shows that I have either a Livekernelevent or a bluescreenevent, can't even play Battlefield 3 for more than two minutes or Crysis 2... anything that pushes my gpu!!

I cleaned everything and plugged back in, no result. I've updated nvidia drivers to last version, no result, driver fusion? no result. I've tried messing with the gpu voltage or power limit, even downclocking it, no result. The screen just turns black (or purple, or white, or yellow ) and I have to hard reset my pc!
Funny thing is that when I run memtest, kombustor, prime95 or furmark the problem does not appear ( that's for 2 hour period )... so ram seems fine, cpu seems fine and gpu running fine...

Don't know what to do, could use some help (bf4 around the corner :) )

thanks for reading!

UPDATE 2:

I've sent my pc back to the people woh built it...
They played BF4, Crysis 2 and 1 and every game I own without issue...

Now I don't know if the problem lies with my mouse, keyboard, monitor or else...

Mouse - Razer Deathadder 2013 Keyboard - Logitech G110 Monitor - BenQ 23

If anyone know WTF is going on with my computer, feel free to comment!

thanks! :)

UPDATE 3

Played Campaign in BF4, no issues at all.
Played multiplayer crashed several times...

noticed this in event log

Windows error reporting LiveKernelEvent 1001

followed by Windows error Reporting BlueScreen 1001

so that's when my computer crashes to black screen, or white screen, or purple screen... nice colors everywhere!

Gpu&cpu temps are fine

I'm clueless
