Is a Corsair TX650 Watt enough for this card?

Not sure because Sapphire says 750W minimun for both Toxic and Vapor-x while AMD says minimun 500W for HD 7970Ghz.

Specs:
Spoiler
CPU : Intel i5 2500k at 4.0Ghz and I haven't touched voltages.
PSU: Corsair TX650m
RAM : Corsair vengeance 8GB DDR3 1600Mhz
HDD : 750GB 7200RPM
Mobo : Gigabyte Z68AP-D3 (Rev 2.0)

They consume less power than 7970. U will be fine with 650W.
(Only reason I go with 1000W, because I will have 2 of that card :)

Hello.
You will have no problem if you have a typical desktop (with no o/c). Even with O/C to be honest I dont see any problem...

This test is with Intel Core i7-4960X @ 4.2GHz which consumes more than your 2500K @4Ghz.

edit: I just saw your specs. you will absolutely have no problem running this video card.

That's what I thought. But the Sapphire R9 280x toxic requires 2 x 8 PIN connectors (Instead of 1 x 6Pin and 1 x 8Pin) and is the highest factory overclocked card I think. So I'm just a bit worried :) .

Don't worry, furmark is a wattage eater software. In real the card will never hit that level of consume. Have fun!

+1.

This is the worst case scenario.
In real life playing even with most demanding games and with your CPU that requires less watts, you will need around 300-350watt.

It may be plenty of power, but i have just got the same card, and i connected it with an 8pin and 6pin and nothing came up on display. The card lot up and functioned but i have a feeling you need both 8pin for full function?? Is this the case?

2X150 Watt 8-pin PCI Express power connector is required for single card.
4X150 Watt 8-pin PCI Express power connector is required for CrossFireXâ„¢ system.

hey, over the weekend i got the two 8 pins attached and it now works perfectly. i was just that i didnt have enough connectors. i know that it was stupid to think otherwise but worth a try. I have a 650 on my 280x Toxic and it has plenty of juice to run it! hope that helps?

Thanks. I guess I will only look at psu again if I go cf! But my problem I discover was I had fried my cpu and was on the brink of dying. Must be due to overclocking and too much extended stress test. Ended getting a new i5 3570k as I had get another higher end z77 mobo thinking it was the mobo that was at fault.
