I just bought an AMD HD 7870 and i see that it has 2 x 6pin slots. My Corsair HX620 came with one 6pin cable and another Y-split 2x6+2pin cable.

Can i use the single Y-split 2x6+2 cable for cable management or will it not supply enough power to the gpu

That will work without an issue! That power supply is a single-rail power supply which means the amps are shared between all cables. It will work! I do that with mine..
