So yeah the title explains most of it. However, I really can't afford a mobo over £80 as I am splashing out £200 on a 7950 3gb. So yeah, thanks I guess, answer dado would be great as I need to get the parts as soon as I can and then assmble them.
I ran my 8320 in that exact board and OC'd to 4.0 GHz without any heat or stability problems. It's more than capable. They might have been talking about the LE version which has no VRM cooling which makes it unsuitable for much if any overclocking.

Is it bet that I just got for the gigabyte instead?

You might need to edit that post for me, i'm having a little trouble with what you're trying to get across with this

Should I spend the extra money on a gigabyte 970a motherboard opposed to a m5a97l?
i don't think so the M5A97 R2.0 is an extremely good board (non-LE version if you're going to overclock), definitely what i'd recommend if you want the best board but not one of the 990 chipsets

So you're saying get a better board but not the 970a? Why? I thought that was a good budget mobo?
It is a good budget mobo, it's down on a few things compared to the Asus (VRM cooling is better on the asus, so better OCing, and more ports on the Asus) but it's very similar to the Asus as well. It's up to you really. I just really like mine, and the quality is second to none.

He's only saying that the 990 chipset is a little faster. However, it's a bit higher than you want to spend but if you do spend a little extra you can look at the M5A99X boards from Asus.
