I'm building a new gaming rig and don't plan on buying a new hard drive as I plan on using my current hard drive from my current pc. This hard drive already has windows 7 and all my files on it, so will I be able to connect it up to my new build and it run windows 7 and all my files?

Very unlikely. Unless your new motherboard is nearly identical to your current motherboard, you will need to re-install the OS and all of your programs.

And if your current OS is OEM, that really won't work.

^^^^ What he said.
OEM = Hp, Dell, etc...

If your version of 7 is a full or upgrade edition then you can move it. It might not work but often will. if it doesnt then put it back in the original pc and use Sysprep to set it to OOBE state.
