Hi, I have a budget of £700 (preferably less) to buy all the parts necessary to make a pc that can run modern and new games (bf4 etc) and also render videos etc. I want it to be both an amd CPU and GPU (maybe intel CPU, maybe). To be able to play games on ultra with good fps (around 60fps). I have a monitor I got (1280x960) and will use that or maybe a HD1080p TV? or is it better to stick with my Monitor?

Keyboard and mouse arent necessary. Also need an O/S windows 7 or 8 is ok.

I am building it myself for the first time ever so any tips/help with that too will be much appreciated! I really cant wait to do one for myself instead of just buying a built one.

Thanks everyone

about the card, the R9 280X is actually a re-branded HD 7970, but it is newer and have newer versions of DirectX (11.2 compared to 11.1) and a faster memory (6000 compared to 5500), plus the other tecnologies that came with the R9 series.

one thing worth mentioning is the HD 7970 has a higher clock speed than the reference R9 280X. but the card i mentioned in the the build is Overclocked (Core Boost: 1020MHz), only one version of the 7970 (HD 7970 Ghz edition) has a slightly higher clock (Core Boost: 1050MHz) but it is about £100 more.

So, definitely go for the R9 280X.

as for the OS, get a win 7 64bit (have to be 64bit since COD ghosts and watch dogs require that). honestly i got lost looking for it in amazon UK, i think this is the...
