So let me delve into it. I am building my own pc, I am not too sure about the motherboard ATM so I will put a mid range one. Anyway, I will list my specs, however, if there is a component which performs similar I not on a parallel level then I will take a look, however, the only rule is that the part must be cheaper. I am trying to build a budget pc the best I can but without dropping any performance. I know it's pretty much an oxymoron but eh, might as well give it a shot, but when recommending the parts please remember I want this pc to last about 3-4 years, and to be capable of running bf4 at ultra settings on at least 40 fps.

Well, that's about equivalent to a gtx 670, and at stock the 670 can't keep bf3 at full ultra above 60fps at all times (average, yes) at 1080. So, bf4 should be a little worse than that. If u OC the 7950 and can accept dips below 60 or msaa low or off should be ok.

All that said, we don't have real benches to work from.

But what do you think, is it a good system for gaming? Does it really have any weak points?

If that's your budget, then yep you should be fine (with that 7200 rpm drive).

I have one up in my loft. Infact I have 3 but one was real small and a bugger (that isnt a swear word) to open. So I have 2 large metal cases, no idea what they are, but very generic home pc looking stuff full metal apart from the front where it looks like a mesh of metal. Not anything special

Are they cases you bought separately, or are they those generic prebuilt cases?

No, the cases I have are already in my loft, they're like 4 years old, I haven't just bought them. So they're nothing special just a normal desktop pc metal case wit appalling circulation! On second thought I may buy a case. If you could link me to any cheap but nice looking cases it'd be appreciated. They don't have to look nice but it'd be appreciated!

It is the rotation speed of the platters in the HDD, the faster they travel the faster the read and write times to the drive is decreasing load times for programs and so on. With minimal to no price difference between the two options the 7200rpm is the recommended std for program drives, As file storage the 5400rpm drives are a good option.

It will affect load times not fps! Basically when a game loads a new map from the HDD it is going to be slower.

Yes only takes longer to load after load it depends on CPU,GPU and ram.

5400rpm are extremely slow for a new desktop pc. It takes a long time to boot and load things, it's just not good to use it as a primary drive.

How is OP going to buy a $60 drive in the UK? They use a different currency!
