Best solution for fps increase on FFXIV Realm Reborn?

My current build is:

CPU: Intel i3 540 3.07Ghz
RAM: 8GB DDR3 DRAM 665Mhz
GPU: ATI HD 5830 1GB
System: Windows 7 64 bits - updated

I've been getting an average of 35fps on the game with resolution of 1920x1080 and everything on max. Only thing I disabled was HDR, which someone told me could make a small difference on fps.

Not a bad performance for an old GPU like the 5830 but not ideal either. So my question is, what's the best solution to effectively increase the fps to an average of 50fps:

1. Update my CPU to an i5 or i7?

2. Update my GPU to a GTX 670 or HD 5970?

3. Overclock either the CPU or GPU? I've never done this so I'm not sure of the risks involved. I do have a good solid PSU that I bought specifically for the 5830 though.

And before someone tells me to update both the GPU and the CPU, I don't live in the US and in South America computer parts tend to be double the price as there. A GTX 670, for example, costs roughly around US$ 400,00 here. Therefore I'm asking what's the most effective solution between the 3 I presented. If I update both it will cost me almost US$ 1.000,00.

I appreciate any help and thanks in advance.

My suggestion is to go for a GPU that is equal to a GTX650ti boost 2GB or more,
Something like the link I gave (which costs around $270) or take the GTX670. You will see the most FPS upgrade.

edit: If you will go for a new Sandy-Ivy-Haswell CPU, I am afraid you have to change your mobo.

Thanks, I was afraid that a newer card like the 670 could not be very effective on an old CPU like the i3. In terms of older cards do you think that one could easily get me 50fps or would you recommend another?

And overclocking wouldn't help at all then?

Hello.
I am playing this game too and I recently created a PC for a friend in order to play this at max settings.
What I found is that you need a haswell i5 and a 7850 2GB / 650ti boost 2GB, in order to run the game with 60FPS average and 30 minimum.

So the best solutions is to update your system with a little boost on everything,
Since I can see that you already have the RAM, you need a:
1. LGA1150mobo
2. i5 4430 or i5 4440
3. a GTX650ti boost 2GB or 7850 2GB

Now I know that you will say that it would cost more but in reality at most countries you can buy an i5 + gtx650ti with the same money you can buy a gtx670. And you only add $60 for the mobo more than any GTX670/i7 upgrade (the i7 with mobo upgrade should cost a little more than GTX670...)

Which country do you live?
We might create a good system based on your budget for the i7+mobo or GTX670...

edit: To people that don't know this game managed to make my i7 4770K to reach 70% to all cores/threads and my GTX570 to 99% gpu usage with V-sync. Max settings.

Yeah it is a taxing game on any rig, apparently. I've been playing Far Cry 3 with everything almost on max and res of 1920x1080 and it plays way better, I'm getting an average of 45fps.

I live in Brazil and the government tends to tax the hell out of everything here regarding computer parts and electronics. Just so you have an idea, Sony just announced that the PS4 here will cost a staggering US$ 2.000,00, by far the most expensive one in the world, and they claim it's not their fault.

By the way, my current mobo is a Pegatron IPMIP-GS H55.

UPDATE: I just found this one here. Zotac GTX 650 TI 2GB GDRR5 128 Bits PCI Express 3.0 ZT - 61102 - 10M for US$ 350,00. Cheapest one I could find, think it's worth it? Good brand?

It isn't worth it. Its not even the GTX650ti boost. The GTX670 that you found for $400 has double performance than this.
So from the price of a single GTX650ti, I guess updating everything is not possible.
Seriously $350??? that's triple price lol...
hmmm
I think there is something wrong here.

After some search I found these:
Processador Core i5-3330 R$ 535,50
Placa Mãe GA-B75M-D3H PH R$ 226,80
Placa de Video Geforce GTX 650 TI BOOST 2GB R$ 589,01
Total: R$ 1.351,30 = 621.88 USD
I know its a lot but wth the prices are really high :/.

Anyway I think you can choose anything you like and sorry for the delay, I was searching the best prices from 6 stores. :p
If you cannot afford them all now, choose the CPU and mobo or the GPU for now and later when you can afford it, upgrade the other too.

I know man, prices for electronics here are ridiculous. You don't even wanna know how much a brand new Macbook costs here.

Ok so, I really can't afford to upgrade everything now so what's your suggestion? Which one should I go for first? And do I "really" have to change my mobo?

Man you've been a lifesaver, thank you so much for devoting your time to help me with this. I'll look into getting a GTX 650ti or similar.

BTW: I download MSI Afterburner and overclocked it just to see what would happen. How is it possible that the fps didn't change AT ALL? It remains at 35fps average (35 outdoors, 40 indoors).

How much did you overclock? It might be within the margin of error.
And also you might hit the VRAM limit since with 5830 you have only 1GB.
Can you check that with Afterburner? Also what was the usage of the overclocked 5830 at afterburner?

Well I'm a complete noob at this, I followed some video on Youtube and decided to try it just to see what would happen so forgive me if I'm missing some useful information on my reply:

Core Voltage and Power Limit are Locked by the software
Core Clock: 875 (max)
Memory Clock: 1100 (a bit under max)
Fan Speed: 44

I thought that, even with only 1GB, I'd see some difference in fps, even if just a little. If my character is inside a small room the fps goes to 50, bigger rooms goes to 40 and outside is really 35 or sometimes less. It doesn't really prevent me from playing at all, 35fps is completely playable, but well, I'm a sucker for high performance and max graphics.

Another thing I wanted to ask you: what if instead of replacing my 5830 with a more expensive one I included another 5830 or similat ATI card? Would that be just as good of a solution as replacing the current one? I honestly don't even know if I have a free slot for it though on my mobo.

Well these are the clocks.
It would be nice if you could check the memory usage of the GPU (VRAM).
It would be a bad idea to go with CF. Especially with only 1GB VRAM. And in the end it might not be as fast as a single 7850/650ti boost. Not to mention the problems that SLI/CF setups mostly have. Even the new R9 290X has a lot of stuttering at CF...

So stay away from dual card solutions when you can buy a single that can do your job without the dual card problems.

ps: If you think you need the new CPU more than you need a GPU (maybe for other programs or daily use), go with it. There will still be a performance boost, just not as high as a new GPU though...

Indeed. They did poor optimisation of the power processing sources. Thats why a GTX650 ti boost is enough to provide 30min FPS.
You tested the game as I see at 3930K@4,5Ghz I also tested it at 4770K@4.0Ghz. Seriously my friend with the 4440 (core i5 3,1Ghz) has the same FPS...
The funny thing is that the game uses all threads at 70%!!!! oO
