I just bought a new Lenovo G505s with the AMD A10 processor. I heard many people are suffering from subpar performance when the computer is plugged in; on battery mode, the computer goes to regular speed regardless of power settings in windows.

How do I test my computer's speed?

Download CPU-Z from here: http://www.cpuid.com/downloads/cpu-z/1.67-setup-en.exe

It will detect your PC component's details along with speed too.

CPU Z will be good for checking what your processor settings are currently at. As far as testing "performance" you can download benchmark tools such as 3DMark or run any video game benchmark to make sure the processor is performing as it should.
