Had an issue with a PSU (Apevia 650W) in my new build (First build).
Recently added an extra GPU and 2 weeks later the PSU died, PC shutdown mid game and the PC wouldn't turn back on. I Removed the GPU and swapped the new (dead) PSU with an old PSU and the PC turned on for a few seconds but turned off again. I figure this to be caused by insufficient power from the old 350watt PSU. I figure everything else is fine aside from the PSU.

My questions:
#1:
I'd like to know how many watts would be sufficient for my build.

#2:
My mobo supports 3 way SLI but there isn't enough space between the bottom mounted PSU and the 3rd PCI-E slot to fit a GPU so I use the top two slots for my GPUs, is this typical or safe? There seems to be adequate room between the two cards for heat dissipation and proper air flow and have not run into any problems minus the previously stated PSU issue.

And I will take my answer off the air, thank you!

Apevia power supplies are iffy quality at best and stressing low quality power supplies can kill your entire system so don't try that one again ;)

As stated above 700-750 watts is what you need. Here is a handy chart for future reference.

This is an absolute steal. NCIX has the XFX Pro 750w Black Edition for $91 after rebate. It's made by Seasonic like all XFX power supplies and is a rebadged Seaonic X series. Arguably the best units on the market. 80 Plus Gold certified and full modular.

A Seasonic X would cost you $160. This is the same unit internally.
