can't upgrade RAM

when install RAM (added) in bios can read all of RAM, but in windows can't (6,00 GB (2,00 GB usable)) , please help
in laptop
windows 7 home premium 64 bit

Go to "Run" box from Start menu.

Type "Msconfig"

Go to "Boot" Tab.

Click "Advanced option..." button

See if "Maximum Memory" option is checked. If checked, un-check it.
