I use outlook 2003 in my Windows XP. From last week, my outlook is taking a lot of time to open. And some of it files has got deleted or corrupted. I don't have much idea of it. I searched on Google to get the solution. most of them asks to buy PST repair software. Is it really worthful to buy such application

You could first try the built-in "inbox repair tool" (scanpst.exe) which will cost you nothing:

Additionally, always keep at least one backup copy of your Outlook PST file in case your hard drive fails. The PST file contains all your message folders, messages, and contacts.

Best solution

As was already mentioned, scanpst.exe would be your best bet to try recovering any .pst files that have been corrupted. More information on using this application can be found here.

If you find that scanpst.exe didn’t work for you, you might consider trying one of the third party applications out there on the internet, but do so at your own risk.

Additionally, both Windows XP and Office 2003 are going to become unsupported come April 8, 2014. If you meet the system requirements, it is strongly recommended that users make the move to a modern operating system such as Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 by then.
