I started to notice a sort of image lag on my Asus 670 DC II with specific items

Example: On the metro screen for Windows 8, there is a distinct ghost-ish lag with the red tiles, the tiles move fine, but they leave a streaky shadow while they are moving.

In minecraft, the roses have the same issue.

In call of duty, certain objects have this issue.

Any idea what this is or how to stop it? I have an Asus 670 DC-II, and ive been having this problem regardless of the Nvidia driver I use (all available since May)

Solution
It does sound like a monitor issue.

Was it working BEFORE or is a new monitor?

Have you tried going back to factory settings for the monitor or seeing if the Contrast/Brightness settings are off?

Thank you, you were right, the problem went away when I hooked it up to a different monitor.

I reset my monitor to factory defaults, but the issue still persists. Any other ideas on how to fix it? I'd prefer not going out and buying a new one if I don't need to...

Thanks again

Likely nothing you can do if it is your monitor unless it is under warranty, then send it to the manufacturer, if not the monitor likely has parts failing and it is usually easier and cheaper just to replace the monitor

If ghosting starts on a monitor that currently worked fine the primary culprit is:

a) defective cable (bad shielding)
b) interference

Troubleshooting:
a) Try a different cable*
b) Turn off any electronic equipment near your cable (except your PC of course)

*If you use a DVI cable, try a different DVI cable as well as whatever else is supported (HDMI/VGA/Displayport)
