Hello Experts

I am little confused choosing between the following two configurations:

1. "Ivy Bridge" - Core i7 3632QM + GeForce® GT 640M 2GB DDR5 VRAM
2. "Haswell" - Core i7 4500U + GeForce® GT 750M 2GB DD5 VRAM

Both systems are having 16GB RAM and SSD storage.

Now, my main purpose:
1. Intensive high resolution graphics/image processing - using Photoshop CS6 and RAW image conversion upto 40MB/image
2. Video processing - using Adobe Premier Pro
3. Sound Editing - Adobe Audition and Cubase
4. Quite a lot of Multitasking

The Ivy Bridge is Dell XPS 15 "2012" model and the other is Inspiron 15 "2013" model. I am finding it very difficult to decide one upon the other! Please help.

Regards
Siva

The case in point is that the difference between those CPUs' is massive, while between those GPU's not as much as that.

Also, while I'm not a huge expert in Video and Photo editing - those tasks are traditionally CPU intensive with less reliance on GPU.

Hi Gaidax

Thanks for your response!
Just trying to understand...In which situation a better GPU is necessary? Here the XPS has stronger CPU but weaker GPU, whereas the Inspiron has just the opposite.

One of the sales rep wanted to convince me that I need better GPU for Photo/Video works. But, I was not convined much, the Inspiron cpu is a "Dual Core i7" whereas the XPS one is Quadcore, may be it's my lack of knowledge...

Thanks
Siva
