Hey,
Try THIS:

1. Backup anything you wish to keep to a USB drive (Game Saves are often inside the DOCUMENTS folder)

2. http://acer.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2631/related/1

3. Choose "Restore Operating...

first of all why did you put 32 bit windows on a 16 gb ram machine you are not able to use more than 4 gb of ram and you are limiting you pc preformance.did you install all of the drivers after instaling windows?

As said you put 32-bit Windows on a machine with 16GB of RAM.

Did you know that 32-bit Windows can only address 4GB of TOTAL memory?
This includes:
a) System RAM
b) Video RAM
c) minor other things (about 0.2GB)

When your PC boots it allocates the Video RAM and a few other things. So if you had 2GB of VRAM you'd have 4GB - 2GB - 0.2GB or roughly 1.8GB usable System Memory.

System Memory is used to store Windows data loaded from the drive as well as the main code for a video game when it loads. Skyrim can use up to 1.75GB of System RAM all by itself.

So Windows probably assigned SOME of your video memory and SOME of your System RAM. Anyway, you can't use most of what you have installed.

Solution:
1. Put Windows 8 64-bit back on (the hidden Image should still be installed so use the proper F-Key on bootup to start the Restore procedure)

2. Get START8 to bypass the new W8 interface which is likely the reason you went with Windows 7.

CHEATS:
"cheats" don't muck up games likely but MODS can especially if they use extra memory (texture mods).

Windows 8 and 7 have been tested extensively side by side. The difference in performance is so small they are considered IDENTICAL as gaming systems.

Tweaking:
As said maybe not "HIGH" settings though that varies by the game. It's always a choice between quality and frame rate (maybe not Minecraft). So learn about VSYNC and other terminology and how to tweak with FRAPS to monitor your frame rate.

Sims 3 stutters no matter what you do BTW. I gave up playing on my high-end rig. There's no real fix.

GTA IV may also run like crap (GTA V however will be great).

Again, you nee W8 back on.

Hey,
Try THIS:

1. Backup anything you wish to keep to a USB drive (Game Saves are often inside the DOCUMENTS folder)

2. http://acer.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2631/related/1

3. Choose "Restore Operating System to Factory Defaults"

If that works:
1) get START8 from Stardock
2) update any software or drivers from the laptop site
3) reinstall games/software

If that does NOT work:
Contact Acer and explain your system "had issues", you tried the above Recovery procedure and it failed.

Windows 7 32-bit:
- can't access most of your SysRAM/VRAM
- prevents boot-time security
- prevents other things (apparently your BluRay drive) possibly other screen controls

Again, the ONLY issue with W8 is solved by getting Start8.

*When you get Windows 8 reinstalled with updated drivers etc and are all happy make a BACKUP IMAGE using Windows Image, Acronis True Image or another program (I use Acronis TI).
