nand is a logic gate andit is the most comon because you can do every single gate with this gate.it is best for the manufactures to use one specific gate to construct the product especialy cpu which contains bilions of these gates.so nand should be used in ram as well.memory was created from nand logic gates flip flop was the first stage of memory.
