Hi, I'm thinking of upgrading my desktop. I mainly use it for gaming.

Here are my desktop specs:
CPU: i5 3470 (3.2Ghz)
GPU: Sapphire 7850 2GB OC
RAM:g.skill 1333mhz 8GB
PSU: SeaSonic S12II-Non MODULAR 520W.

I want to play upcoming games on max settings. I play on 1920X1080 resolution. Should I upgrade my CPU?

I'm thinking of upgrading my GPU to a GTX 780. Is it worth it or should I wait for the 800 series next year? Thanks.

Your GPU would give you the most gaming improvement. I think your CPU is just fine and shouldn't hold you back. You could consider the AMD 7970 or R9 280x for around $300-350 for your upgrade or even consider the R9 290/290x when it is released, but that is up to you.

your CPU is fine, even the demending watch dogs have the CPU requirements as [min: Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400 & recommended: Core i7 3770]
so focus on your GPU. upgrading a gpu in these times is open to debate. we've seen the new AMD lineup, great mid-end choices ya, but their top end R9 290X can beat the reference GTX 780, but not the EVGA GTX780 SC ACX ($10 more than the reference card).
how much are you willing to spend on a new GPU, and more importantly: will you be able to sell your current GPU?

GTX 780 is a very good graphics card and if I was you I would definitely buy it if I had the money.Your i5 could probably need upgrading next year or so but in my opinion upgrading from a 7850 to a gtx 780 is a bigger improvement then a i5 to an i7. Amazon are doing some good deals at the moment with £100/$100 off on some of them so that's worth a look. about the 800 series next year it all depends if you are willing to wait or not, but the gtx 780 will suit your needs. Good luck, what ever you decide to do!.

The processor is fine. Upgrade to a better Nvidia graphics card, like a GTX 770 will be all you really need for 1080p. You will hardly benefit from a 780 unless your monitor has a higher refresh rate than 60hz.

And also because... you only got 520w!!!

yes, thanks The Q6660 inside, these two amps slipped somehow.

Then again, EVGA does sell bundles with their Hadron case (40 amp too), a 4770K and a 780, which seems to work IIRC. A good 450W could run a TITAN fine if you ask me, but better safe than sorry, upgrading the PSU adds a bit of headroom and once you get to 280X levels, diminishing return kicks in, so you could dish out $100 on a new PSU as well...
