Hello Tom's!

Firstly, sorry about my bad English knowledge, I'll try my best.

So, I have now a computer with 2500K (not oc'd), Sapphire 6850 and AsRock z68 pro3,
8 GB ram, hdd, ssd, Xonar DG -sound card.
And the psu, of course, Corsair CX500.

I have thought of bying Asus R9 280X -graphics card to replace my 6850.

Will my PSU be enough for this configuration?

By the way, is Asus R9 280X (or 270X) worth bying? I've read that it's pretty good for the price of ~300€/£/$.

Thanks a lot to answerers!

Yes, it is enough. Dont worry :)

If you consider buying the 280x, (which is a great card) then you have to upgrade your PSU aswell. Get at least 650w, that will give you the headroom to overclock if you wish. If not, you could get a 600w.

Personally I would say no. You should give your self some headroom so you dont stress your power supply while gaming or whatever your using this build for.

I use a really good calculator for my builds. Just enter the info as accurately as you can and it suggests your minimum wattage and suggests a power supply for you. Www.extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp

The Corsair 500w is enough. He might not be able to overclock, but as he says that he wishes to upgrade i assume he isn't going to have his build for much longer. Again, 500W is enough for your current build, if you wish to upgrade to 280x, you should get a 650w. Plain and simple :)

I would get at least a reliable 600w PSU for that card.

Thank you for the answers.

So, 270X will be okay with 500W and my other configuration?

I guess I would buy Asus 270X then.
