I try to install ccc 13.9 drivers and all goes ell until i restart so they can take effect, on the restart i get BSOD with it saying IRQL_not_less_or_equal
and they only way to get my computer to work again is to restore to before the drivers were installed. and my 7970 is totally useless without the drivers installed.
I just recently upgraded my motherboard to an asrock pro4 if this helps at all

Check if the card is seated right and if the additional power is connected.

The card is seated correctly and the power is connected, its definitely working as my screen is working, but its gives BSOD only after i install the video drivers and restart, ive recreated this about 8 times now and im just not sure where to go from here

That's a wrong assumption! It's working with the very basic set of functionality of the standard vga driver. That doesn't include PCI-E 16x or 3D functions.

Problem solved, i had to disable the onboard graphics for my motherboard (something ive never had to do before, is this common?) and install service pack before the drivers would update properly, for some reason service pack wasnt listed as a recommended update by windows which is why it got missed i guess.

Strange! I would expect further surprises.
