I need a good one for all games but especially for Arma 2 , Arma 3 and operation arrowhead.

Open to other suggestions if these 2 are out of line in some way.

HD 7970 - http://www.ncix.com/products/?sku=68755&vpn=HD7970-DC2-...

or the R9 280x - http://www.ncix.com/products/?sku=91109

Im not sure what is better... these results say the 7970 is better, and i like this price on both of them.

this is for an i7 4770k haswell.

The 7970 Ghz edition is cheaper and is exactly the same as the R9 280X.

The R9 280X is just an overclocked version of the 7970 - they are otherwise practically the same card.

If you can find a good deal on a 7970, I say go with that and overclock it yourself, which is not hard to do at all, to save some money. Otherwise I would go for a R9 280X, since it is faster than a reference 7970 and there is no reason to go with the slower card for the same price.

Actually the GHz edition is more expensive than 280X. Cheapest one I could find is $320 with most models at $350 or above, compared to 280X going for $300.

With the exception of W-Buffering in Operation Flashpoint (the original, by BIS) all Bohemia Interactive Studio titles tend to run slightly faster on AMD/ATI video cards.

Sometimes substantially so for the price. (e.g. They recommend a 128-bit AMD/ATI card, or a 256-bit NVIDIA one in some of their requirements).

Even Operation Flashpoint ran faster on ATI hardware back in the day, they just didn't have W-Buffering, they had HZ-Buffering instead.

As a result NVIDIA stopped supported W-Buffers and we are where we are today in the simulation world... which is a pity as the W-Buffer was much better.
