Arma 2 Lauch Parameter wont work

OK...so I wanted to add launch parameter to arma 2 for more fps but when I go Steam/steamapp/common/Arma2Opperation Arrowhead when I try to edit the properties of arma 2.exe it turns into a notepad file instead .exe how do I put in the laucher parameters

Do it through Steam, does the same thing.

Also, to add parameters they need to be added onto a shortcut. If you're really adverse to using Steam for whatever reason, make a shortcut of the .exe first, then do your parameters.

but when I go to the .exe file and I put this

Arma.exe -nologs -nosplash -noPause -world=empty -cpuCount=4-exThreads=7 -maxmem=4096 -maxvram=1024 it turns into a notepad instead
