Hi. I have an old PC which works ok but sometimes ties itself in a bit of a knot and slows down when multi-tasking. It has the above processor on a K7S41GX Socket A board with 2GB RAM and a 256Mb Geforce 2600 card. Not looking for anything too flash as the PC is just used for internet, Office and streaming media, just a bit more reliable speed. Can I swap this processor out for a newer model easily? If so, any suggestions? Thanks!

You can upgrade to a Athlon XP 3200+, or a Sempron 3300+ that uses a small bit less power and runs cooler. Both are on socket 462/A.

Cant gurantee that the system will be fast enough for you, I stopped using single core systems for desktop use 2 years ago.

You can pick one from here:http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/mb-ASRock/K7S41GX.html

If streaming video is choppy it is likely due to your CPU not being capable enough of decoding the video so that your video card can display it. Upgrading the CPU can help alleviate the issue, however, the better solution is to buy a graphics card that is capable of decoding video. Your old GeForce card cannot do that.

The following GeForce 6200 AGP card for $33 after rebate should help.

As far as I can tell he already has a Geforce 6200, and the "2600" is simply a typo as that card doesn't exist. If he wants to upgrade his card he should go for a Geforce 6800GT or a Radeon 9800 Pro.
