Hello! I am looking at graphics cards and have looked at the 7790 but the prices range from about £85 - £125.

What is the difference between these asides from the RAM?

What would be the performance change between the cheaper 2GB and the more expensive 2GB card?

MSI AMD HD7790 2GB DDR5 - £100
Gigabyte 2GB AMD R7790 - £125 (Also, what is the 'R'?)

R is just in the name because AMD wanted it. OC versions cost more money and give few percentage more fps. Asus, Sapphire, MSI, HIS and Gigabyte 7790HD cards are good. If you can afford it and want the fps gain, get an OC version. Get 1GB DDR5 RAM, its better than 2GB DDR3 RAM and this card don`t need 2GB DDR5 RAM because it can not profit from more than 1GB DDR5 RAM.

Thanks for clearing that up! All the cards I saw were GDDR5 so I can get a 2GB for £100 which isn't a bad deal.

For the 7790HD you don`t need 2GB DDR5 RAM because you would need them in high resolution with AF and AA where the GPU would be slow anyways. But if the price for 2GB DDR5 is max. 5£ more, you can go for it, if you like and get an OC version. Whats your CPU?

Well I am upgrading at the moment but I am getting an AMD FX-6300.

1GB - £90 (which is a steal!)
1GB OC - £95
2GB OC - £115

Sapphire or Asus? Is there a difference if the specs are same and OC? Theres £10 difference.

I would save the money and get 1GB DDR5 RAM OC from one of the mentioned brands or get the 7790HD 1GB DDR5, how much do the normal and OC version cost? As I mentioned you need 2GB RAM in high resolution with AF and AA settings but the graphic card is not good enough for this kind of details.

Both are very good, the price difference is because they are differend brands and use different materials but they should be the same.

The standard 2GB is £100 (MSI). So there is no difference between Sapphire and Asus even though Asus is £10 less?

I'll decide closer to the time, thanks for your help! I'll have to see how much money I have available.

So shall I not go with the £99 2GB?
