My issue getting pc to post after installing Phenom II X4 940 BE into my ASUS Crosshair (BIOS 1207)

I installed my processor...
Phenom II X4 940 BE

into my...
Mobo: ASUS Crosshair AM2 n590
BIOS BIOS: (1207) and/or (1402_Gini_Mod_V3)

Other components...
Ram: 4 Gigs Corsair XMS2 DDR 800 (Cas 4) (2.1V)
Video: SLI 2x PNY 8600 GTS
PSU: Antec 550 and/or Roswell Lightning 1300w

Anyone have same processor on same motherboard?
Do I need to up the voltage on both my ram and processor? Or did I buy a bad used processor?
Thanks,
Jake

Solution

That would be the problem. Your board doesn't support any Phenom II.

The PhII 940BE was not an Athlon X3. It was actually one of if not the first PhII to come out. It is an AM2+ chip. The Athlon x3's were AM3 and lack an L3 cache making them inferior to an Phenom II 9xx. Some of the PhII...

UPDATE: Problem Fixed !!!

(1) So I shut down my PC
(2) Cleared CMOS jumper pins (I actually have a [CLR CMOS] button on my motherboard).
(3) Installed OLD processor (Athlon X2 6400+) and turned my computer on.

(4) Entered BIOS to increased CPU voltage a little OVER recommended voltage for my NEW Phenom II 940 BE processor while OLD Athlon X2 6400+ still installed and ALSO loaded my custom BIOS..... 1402 Ginie Mod V3 (This BIOS was created by a someone else not by ASUS !!!!).

(5) Saved and exited BIOS and restarted computer.
(6) Logged into desktop to check stability then shutdown computer.
(7) Installed NEW Phenom II 940 BE and turned computer on AND LOGGED INTO MY DESKTOP........
(8) THEN I DANCED IN HAPPINESS BECAUSE US COMPUTERS NERDS OUTSMARTED ASUS BIOS AND MOTHERBOARD!!!

P.S. I currently overclocked my Phenom II 940 BE (AM2+) from 3.0 Ghz to 3.776 Ghz STABLE!!!!

Thank for ALL the help everyone :)
