Hey all, long time reader first time poster...

I used this forum to decide on a main build for my rig, i ended up with a 3930k, MSI gtx770 2gb 1150mhz, GA-X79-UD3, 16mb of corsair vengeance @ 1600mhz.

As the title describes I'm having some trouble with the temperatures of my cpu. I was aware when buying my cooling system, Corsair Hydro Series H60, that it wasn't the best cpu cooler for my cpu but it was all i could afford at the time, and i didn't think the results would be too disastrous.

A few months ago I finished my build and the core averaged temps idle from 55-60c which was as i expected. However recently my OCCT is showing idle temps of between 85-87c which is just crazy.

because of my tight configuration in the case my the power for the corsair fan became unplugged, and the cpu temp was around 65-70c but with the fan powered against the radiator its 85-87? This is against all of my logic unless there is something i am missing...

So in short... Help! why is my cpu temp so high? is the cooling i have totally useless? i didn't think it would be this bad. Also why is the cpu temp lower when the fan is off?

Try to reseat your cooler and use fresh paste.Check the temps with an other program too.

The next program,HWiNFO32,does well for me although i don't have your cpu,
http://www.hwinfo.com/download32.html
When you open it you have two chioces,if you only want the sensors showing check (v) the sensors mark and then click run.
Open the program otherwise by just clicking run and after getting rid of the system summary you still can click sensors on the left top corner.
