First off, apologies if this is in the wrong forum - wasn't sure where it would fit best.
Anyhow, I just did my first full build (yay!), and everything went pretty well. That is, until I tried to use my microphone (which I verified works with another computer). As the title says, in both the front and rear jacks (pink microphone in), my mic is being detected, but nothing happens when I speak into it while in the Control Panel -> Sound -> Recording settings.
I'm assuming the fact that I'm using my video card's HDMI as both video and audio into my television is probably overriding Realtek's ability to record my microphone. However, that's simply a guess, and right or wrong, I don't know what to do about it. And thus, I find myself making this post.
Other information:
Drivers are updated
GPU: Asus GTX650 Ti Boost
Mobo: MSI 970A-G43
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
