Dx 11 doesn't seem to work

I have a quad core i5 3.00 ghz and 8gb of ram and sapphire radeon 7870 and I have dx 11 but when I go to run games it never lets me click dx 11 only dx 9 I fear this is holding my system back in terms of gaming capabilities. I would like to add that the game I have noticed this on was installed before I got my GPU installed

I have only noticed it on civilisation V when it asks what to run it with but won't let me click dx 11 maybe it is because I downloaded the game before I got my GPU?

Thanks will try it in the morning it's really getting on my nerves with the release if bf4 soon which I could run the beta of which apparently needs dx11 so Idk what's going on
