Im planning to get a gigabyte hd 7750 for a upgrade but im not sure if 430 watts is enough for my computer

My computer specs are: Windows 7 ultimate 32-bit (it really is 64-bit but got downgraded because my computer got damaged and had to be repaired but i can upgrade to 64 bit)
intel quad core 2.4 ghz
5 gb ram

Geforce 8400gs: getting replaced by 7750 if 430 is enough

The minimum wts for that gpu is 450wts. You should always have bit higher than the minimum or even recommended psu wts.

According to Newegg the minimum power supply recommendation is 400 watts or higher. This information is also confirmed on the manufacturers website. I would say that you are safe with that power supply and graphics card.

Hello. Your Intel quad core plus a 7750 should require only around 250 watt maximum.
Q6600 needs maximum 150 watt and other 50watt for 7750 and not more than 50watts for the rest of your system.
Choose any good branded 400watt PSU and you will be fine!

Since there are 10 different answers here I will post this. RealhardtechX maintains the most comprehensive power supply database on the internet and this can be trusted.

http://www.realhardtechx.com/index_archivos/Page362.htm

They show a system with an HD 7750 needing a recommended 350w power supply.

You are fine with a Corsair 430CX.

I would say you are good. The 7750 is not a high powered card.

AMD's requirements list 400 watts.

In reality 300-350 would still work as long as the system was not overclocked or using some of AMD's new extra high power consuming cpus.

As long as that 430 watt power supply is a quality unit it will be fine.

I personally have a rather light weight system with a GTX 650 ti and i5 750 running fine off a 300 watt power supply and it never crosses 180 at the wall without some real hard work. Games average in the 140-150 area.
