I got the 780gtx in my new rig because passmark said it was second only to the titan. I got it made by a custom computer company. Wont mention the name as i am not sure if "Promoting" a site is allowed here. Anyway i figured i would just get the reference model but i actually got the Palit Jetstream which is better than the reference card. Anyway...I was just wondering which 780 is ranked number 2 in the benchmarks. Is it the reference card, or do they take the best 780 such as the Evga Classified or is it an average across all the different brands etc.

Just trying to figure out where my 780gtx actually ranks on the top cards list :p

passmark is a pretty poor benching site. that said, as of today, YES the 780 is the 2nd fastest SINGLE gpu in existence. properly overclocked it will match a stock titan.

of course tomorrow it will be the 3rd fastest single gpu behind the r9-290x and the titan. That said it's a stupid fast gpu. So enjoy and be happy.

If you want a hireachy it would be something like this...

GTX 690
HD 7990
Titan
R9-290X*
GTX 780
R9-290*
GTX 770 / 680 / 670 / HD 7970 (r9-280x)
GTX 760 / 660ti / HD 7950 (r9-280)
HD 7870 (r9-270x)
GTX 660
GTX 650ti BOOST / HD 7850 (r9-270)

*based on leaked benches, the r9-290x will be released tomorrow, the r9-290 will be released in 1 more week.

From what I can tell, it looks like an average based on user-submitted baselines. However, since the underlying platform keeps switching, that does change the averages.

The last 5 baselines for the GTX780 is 3753, 7515, 8457, 7115, and 8967. CPUs for those baselines change from AMD FX processors to I5s to I7s.
