Hey guys, im thinking about getting into pc gaming and im also thinking about building my own gaming desktop. Every once in a while i'll go on newegg and see the deals that they have on pc components, and i always read reviews. Im just scared to get into building my own desktop because in a lot of the reviews it seems like there is a component that dies only a few months after use or even worse DOA and that sorta scares me out of building my own pc. Is it worth it to build my own desktop or should i go with a ps4 or buy a prebuilt pc? Any answers are greatly appreciated

In my humble opinion it is 100% worth it to build your own rig. In all my 15+ years of building PCs I have had maybe 2-3 parts that died within a few months. If you can remember to register all your parts as soon as you get them then it's much less of an issue.

There are loads of resources out there to help you build a rig, this being one of them. Here are my top 3 choices.

http://www.pcpartpicker.com Lets you build a system online. Includes multiple resellers, a compatibility filter, and a wattage estimator!

http://www.logicalincrements.com Has a grid layout of parts and prices, and the guys who run it are very friendly and helpful.

Plus, the satisfaction, pride, and knowledge you'll gain far outweigh any tangible benefits.

Good luck!

Hi,

I can tell you that part failure and DOA parts are actually very uncommon. Most people aren't going to comment on their product if ti works as expected, but those who receive a faulty part ensure to leave feedback. DOA parts can be returned and replaced, so no money is lost, it's just an inconvenience.

Building you own PC is a much better option than buying one in most cases. So the real question comes down to PC vs PS4.

The PS4 is $400 plus $200 for 4 years worth of Playstation Plus

A quality prebuilt office PC is about $550, plus an additional $100 for a monitor.

Combine both, and you can build a computer that games better than a PS4 and is blazingly fast for day to day use. I think it's worth it.

THIS GUY KNOWS WHAT HE IS TALKING ABOUT! but yes its a no-brainer..build your own computer. You cant upgrade a PS4 can you? even you go budget now you can slowly upgrade. DOA is pretty uncommon but YES like ^he said the people on comment about DOA if there product didn't work, yet even if the post a DOA comment the company usually responds for help. most of all the people whose part work do not care to post a review, they are happy enough. If you are really scared like that dude said register the products soon after, or contact the company, go for it dude! Its the best
