I need a camera that captures 1080p video, good stills, has a removable battery, and it waterproof. I was looking at the playsport zx3 but I'd like to know what would give me the best of both video and pictures.

More about : waterproof video camera camera

Hi Andrew, it depends on your budget. The absolute best waterproof still/video camera below $1000 is the $796.95 Nikon 1 AW1.

Here is the still image quality this camera can produce: Pictures of and by the Nikon 1 AW1

Here is some underwater and water sports video shot with the camera (please watch at 1080p): Behind the Scenes with Nathan Avila - Action Videographer

If this camera is above your budget limit, I recommend the $248 Nikon AW110 with wi-fi, GPS mapping and 1080/30p video. It gives you the best price/performance in its class.

Here is the still image quality it can produce: http://www.flickr.com/groups/nikonaw110/pool/

And here is the Nikon product video (please watch at 720p): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDFShDNozyY

Its main competitors, the Olympus TG-2 and Panasonic TS5 are great cameras, but they cost $100 more and the Nikon takes better stills, as shown in this shootout video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=btcljWkpg5U

Hope this is helpful,

Bill

Thanks. I really like the Nikon but I need something I can get on eBay for less than 100. Sorry I didn't specify that in the question.

Here are a couple of used Nikon AW100s for less than $100. These are still great underwater cameras.

Good luck!
