I owned several mouse, cheap and high end. Most of their problems after months or 1-2 years of usage is that the left and right buttons (mostly left) sometimes double clicks on single clicks.
I can understand this issue on cheap mouse but a bit disappointed for my almost 2 year old Razer Naga, it is double clicking on single clicks 1 out of 5 times and is affecting my gameplay on games. Any explanation for this or is it just the lifespan of the buttons?

Well, i think its their lifespan. I had Razer Krait once,i think after 2 years more or less,my left button started to double click.

Im guessing you playing mostly FPS games.

Might be the mouse. I must be lucky, I've had a Logitech G5 since around 2007 and it's still solid as a rock.

I've been having this problem lately with one of my gaming mouse. Turns out it only happens on my desktop running windows 8.1. Doesn't seem to be a problem on a my laptop with windows 7. I figured the mouse was broken but it might be a software thing.

You can always try to alter the settings for double clicking.

Spray WD40 is magic for many problems, inclusive volume wheel in headphones with rac rac rac noises, also for repair this problem of mouse clicks…

Test, is a very fast, not need open the mouse or open the headphones, spray and go well another time…

I discovered on some gaming mice (MS Sidewinder and my current Roccat Kone[+]) you can achieve a double click by pressing a single time and i think that is exactly what a good mouse should be able to do.
When I want to do do a single click then I press a little bit harder and i always get a single click.
I hate having to click twice with a cheap mouse to achieve a double click.

So in my opinion this is not a bug is a feature.

Of curse if you can't get single clicks out of your mouse anymore then it is probably time to get a new one.

Hi, i recently started having this problem.I am a self taught computer geek so After a bit of tinkering i found that it wasn't the mouse.I tired a couple. I rolled back the newly installed driver for my sound. rebooted and it was fine. After a couple of weeks it started again and the driver had updated itself again, so i rolled it back and it's all working fine. the funny thing it only did xtra clicking in one game and nothing else. Strange i know. So try rolling back your sound driver - reboot - and see if that helps.

I just had the same issue with 10yo Logitec mouse I like a lot.

After seeing suggestions from Microsoft and here to reinstall drivers, which did not help, I simply opened the mouse and soldered a 0.01uF capacitor in parallel with the left button pins. Usually you will have 3 pins on the button switch. I soldered it to the two pins which are normally open and closed when button is pressed.

The thought was that if the mouse processor has a schmidt trigger somewhere in the first button click stage / electronic debouncer, capacitor will help with decreasing the bouncing amplitude.

Worked pretty well.
