7970 or r9 280x Please help, if so Why?

7970 or r9 280x Please help, if so Why? i need a good gpu around 300 bucks to run this years upcoming game titles on hopefully ultra. I'm having trouble deciding on a card. thx . i currently have a gigabyte 7870. Also should i consider overclock.?

Realistically they are nearly the exact same card. The 280x has a few minor tweaks.

If you go for the 280x, the Asus DCII version is an excellent pick.

7970 and the r9 280X, they are basically the same. But 280x has a better power consumption.

thx guys, i'll probrobly go with the 280x then but why did it get so many bad reveiws on newegg.
Also should i consider overclock.

The AMD Radeon R9 280X http://amzn.to/19PQa74 is better than the regular HD 7970 because it is a refreshed 7970 GHz Ed. It will have better clocks and performance but costs the same as the regular 7970.

You can find a regular HD7970 for as low as $250 so its $50 less than a 280x.
