Hello, I've been looking into building a new system in the new year and am trying to start planning the build now. The current setup I've been looking at is as follows:
Core i5-4670k
MSI z87-F43 Motherboard
8GB Corsair Vengeance 1600 RAM
Seasonic 620w PSU
Fractal Design r4 w/window in black pearl case
Either CM hyper 212 or Corsair h80/100 coolers
The main purpose of this build will be for my main gaming machine. I will be playing my games on a single (1) 1080p monitor and would like to top out the graphics as much as I can (I'm a detail freak ) Some may notice that I neglected to mention a video card...well I thought I'd use the on board graphics to....okay okay, I lied, it's because I'm torn in which way to go. I've been watching the MSI N770 Lightning edition and I love how it looks and benches from what I've seen, however, I am trying to keep this build around the $1100-$1300 mark, perhaps more emphasis on the lower end. I've also recently took note of the R9 280x and they seem quite nice for the $300 price mark, bearing in mind that maybe come a year from now SLI/CF might be a possibility for using 3x1080p monitors. So I guess my thoughts are this: I've had good luck in using MSI and nVidia cards in the past, do I really want the AMD one despite the fact that it's $100 less, and will the 770 Lightning push like I have been reading it will, as of this minute I'm leaning towards the 770 anyway, but the 2GB VRAM makes me a little uneasy whereas the 280x sports 3GB of VRAM. I'm sure this has been answered several times before and I apologize for making a duplicate post if it has, but I'm looking for any thoughts/suggestions that might simplify this build, thank you in advance.
