Re using old HDD

Building a new gaming PC and cant afford a new hdd at the moment but I have an old 500gb HDD with all my old games, programs and OS (which is torrented) Will my system function normally? (old hard drive completely new system)

Reinstalling your OS requires you to also reinstall all your programs as the registry will no longer contain all the necessary information for them.

You will have to re install an OS, as the OS kind of ties down with your system. You would not be able to just plug it in a different computer and boot up normally. So yeah, you are going to lose it all unless you somehow back it up to a different drive.

Can I just insert an OS disk into it on first boot up and delete the old one at the same time, Im kind of a newbie and BIOS haha
