HDD showing half size

I have an 80gb ide hdd..Yesterday I installed windows 7 on it and now it shows only 40gb..also I checked in win7 disk management utility and it says no unallocated space..pleae help

First go into your bios. See if the hard drive is detected correctly there. If it comes up as the right size then the problem is with windows. If it comes up as the wrong size update your bios by going to the motherboard manufacturers website.

Some hard drives come with a 32gig jumper to limit the drive for older computer. Check instruction sheet (or online) for proper jumper settings.
