Please Suggest a good RAM for my system mainly for 3D Maya lighting and rendering.
My System Spec. :
- Intel 3.5 GHz LGA1150 4770K i7 4th Generation Processor.
- Motherboard Asus Z87-PLUS.
- Nvidia 2 GB graphics card (GeForce GTX 650 Ti BOOST or higher)

Solution

If you are going for 16GB, then go with 4x4GB.

Make sure you have all 4 sticks with same brand and model, voltage etc. Don't mix up anything.

Your choice should be like following:

2x4GB(not recommended)

4x4GB(highly recommended)

2x8GB(recommended. but might encounter some small issues)

4x8GB(highly recommended for Maximum advantage)

Hi, thanks for the reply. 16 GB is fine for me but I am thinking instead of taking one 16GB or two 8 + 8 GB RAM, can I take three 6 + 4 + 4 GB RAM. Which one will work better ?

Kingston ValueRAM will be enough for your work. I am using Kingston ValueRAM for many high end works i.e. .NET platform use/development, Video Editing etc.

Don't need to throw extra money on GSkill or Crucial.

I don't need to OC. :)

Moreover, I have 4 slots, so simply I filled all of my 4 slots, which my board allows, and nowhere it said not to do.

That's fine, just pointing out to Allmighty007, it doesn't make sense to fill them all just to fill them, 4x4GB runs a little slower than 2x8GB, it's more stress on the MC (memory controller), only time you want to fill all the slots on a 1150 is to max it at 32GB

Thats why I figured out the list as 32GB(Highly Recommended) .

Please see my post no 11783932.

I have clearly stated that 32GB is highly recommended for Maximum advantage.

Usually I recommend to avail the Maximum amount of RAM that the board supports.

But here, some people have habits to say "no you need 8GB.... 16GB is bit overkill.. 32GB Omg...." etc etc.

I don't know why people stuck at Maximum amount of RAM, be it 32GB or 64GB. Whatever the board supports, go for its maximum.

Costly? Un-necessary???

Ehhh.... while choosing case, coolers etc things, people don't think about cost and see if it is necessary, but when about RAM!!

They have only one thing to say "32GB? OMG! Does your apps use all the amount of RAM?"

Why not? I say why not?

Work on .NET platforms, at the same time browsing on 10 windows with 2/3 tabs on each.... then you will know why it is.

I am pissed.

where you say 4x4 is best for 16GB and 2x8GB may present problems, where the opposite is true- I have no problem w/ 32GB - all three of my main rigs run 32GB ( have 2133 on SB, 2400 on IB and 2666 on Haswell) and I've been running 32gB sets for close to 3 years now

Many users come here with issues "RAM problem" with their unmatched RAM sticks.

Most of them even don't know which 8GB they should take for their board.

Now you've totally lost me - my response was to you saying 4x4GB for 16GB is better than 2x8GB - which with the 1150 mobos is wrong - the only time 4x4 for 16GB is better than 2x8GB is

A) the mobo doesn't support 8GB sticks
B) the mobo uses the 2011 which runs true quad channel for DRAM
