So what is really the big difference between ddr3 1333mhz vs 2133mhz or 3000mhz?

I know its speed difference but how much does it actually do in terms of gaming and normal computer work? like surfing web, lissen to music etc. But mostly will it do any difference in gaming at all?

I have 4x4gb kingstone 1333mhz ram would there be any point uppgrading the ram if all i do is hardcore gaming?

I will be getting the i5-4670k and the asus maximum vi hero so would there be a point on getting lets say 2133mhz or 3000mhz ram ?

spec:
cpu: amd fx-4100 OC 4,2 Ghz
mobo: asus m5a99x evo
ram: kingston 16gb 1333 mhz 4x4 gb sticks
gpu: Gigabyte radeon HD 7970 oc 1000 mhz
storage: 120 gb ssd 60x2 ocz and 1tb normal hdd
cooler: antec kuhler 620
case: fractal design core 3000
psu: 730w thermaltake SP-730AH2NH
optical drive: LG bluray station
fan controller: Lamptron Fan Controller FC5 V2

On an I5 4670K, the highest RAM i suggest for normal gaming and use is 1866MHz CAS 9.
Above 1600MHz the scaling does not become worth the price.

So no point in 2133MH and up on a Haswel based gaming rig. :)

By the way, you already have a great system except for the CPU.
Why don't you just get an FX 8350? It pretty much equal or JUST under the Intel in gaming but is better at multithreading. That would save you a lot of money. Which would allow you to get a second HD7970. :D

Yea but will i like see any difference in 1866mhz ram instead of my 4x4 gb 1333mhz (16gb) ram atm in gaming etc?

A few frames, maybe... But you already have 16GB of 1333MHz RAM, you may as well use that and actually TEST the difference for yourself by overclocking your RAM to 1600/1866MHz.

So are you gonna get a 8350 instead of an Intel build?

Can you overclock normal 1333mhz ram? i did think you could just overclock the higher end ram like 1866mhz and 2133mhz and so?

I been thinking alot about the fx-8350 vs i5-4670k and the reviews and opinions variate so much some says the fx-8350 is so close in performance to the i5 when others say that it sucks and dosent even come close.

Same with benchmarks some shows the fx-8350 wins by a little while others show its so far behind, so i think i will be happier with the i5 that i will overall get better fps in most games instead of the fx-8350.

I love my motherboard atm so its a little waste to change it because it is an awsome board. it is a really really hard desision but since steamroller wont really come out any time soon and no info in it i think the i5-4670k will last me longer since brodway will come out in about 2014 q4 and wont be like any improvement in performance only better integraded gpu.

Current 1150 socket boards will not support Broadwell according to Intel Roadmap. Besides, its never worth upgrading after just one generation on Intel.

Since you already have such a nice 990FX board. Keep it, I promise you will be happy with a 8350 setup! :D
And this is coming from someone that prefers Intel and has an I5 3570K. :D

You can overclock ANY RAM. :D

How easy is it to overclock ram like 1333mhz to 1600mhz and do i need to change voltage and things on them? and how easy is it to get a unstable system due to overclocked ram?

I never really did think ram speeds change much performance so never looked into overlcoking just knew that if you buy lets say 2133mhz i know you need to overclock it to get the speeds that it wont be 2133mhz out of the box

It can be reasonably easy, there are many guides available, sometime you do not even need to add voltage for such a small boost. Just a bit more relaxed timings.

Thx so much, i already picked you as solution.

So i was just checking pricing and the site i buy from have been reducing the price on the fx-8350 so its only 186€ now, i live in Finland, so it would be alot cheaper then i5+mobo that would be 420 euros for me.

So how much difference in peformance will i see from a fx-4100 oc to 4,2 ghz vs a fx-8350 that i will overclock?

And how much pefromance difference between the fx-4100 and an i5-4670k?

And how much difference is it in most games like bf3/4, farcry3, shadow warrior, crysis serie, tomraider etc, i play alot of new games, almost all new action/fps games. So fps really matters for me so i want to be able to play all new games with no problem for like 2+ years more, all i would need to change is put a second gpu and xfire, but for now the 7970 oc edition hanles everything on 1080p.

So if you know much about intel and amd do you think i would regret later that i dident go with i5 if i take a fx-8350?

Because i am a little afraid i will get much better gaming peformance/fps with intel even when i heard so much good/ bad about the fx-8350 its so hard to decide. my mb will support the fx-8350 easy and has a 140w tdp.

You will NOT regret getting the 8350. To be honest because of the higher core count on the 8350, it may actually last longer than an i5. :D

The difference from 4100 to 8350 in gaming is like night and day, the 4100/6100/8150 series was very bad.

thx i will think about it and read alot more but i think i may still end up going fx-8350 its so hard to pick but it would be alot cheaper and i would not be left with my current amd board that is really good and overclocks well : )

Thx so much for all answers : D

No problem. :)

Think of it this way, if you go 8350, then you can get ANOTHER HD7970. Which is AWESOME.

Yea but still will need to save up a little then haha cos here the gigabyte oc7970 costs 357€ was 389€ before.
http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=...

And the gigabyte R9-280x is only 299€ so i think that one would be better since its pretty much the same gpu with little higher boost locks and has mantle but most likley all 7xxx series will get it, but still saves me 230€ about if i go fx-8350 intead of intel.

So you can ALMOST xfire. The prices in sweden are a bit rough. :D

Well you can Xfire with a R9 280 (without X).

That will be cheaper and is the same as an HD7950.

Its not out yet though, so you will have to wait a bit.

its ok i would just need to wait 2 weeks extra because i get paid every second week haha. so will then maybe get the r9-280x i think gigabyte have like one of the best cards, cooling solution, they have like the best pricing too : ).

will most likley order the fx-8350 this week

Well its not entirely worth pairing an HD7950 with an R9 280X, the HD7950 will hold the R9 280X back but NOT an R9 280 (without X)

I have the gigabyte 7970 oc edition already so wouldent pairing it with a r9-280x be good?
